Workflow inbox experiences

When you open the workflow inbox to review merge and unmerge tasks, the new experience of the page is enabled by default to better manage source records. You can revert to the classic experience of the workflow inbox.
Effective in the October 2025 release, support for the classic experience of merge and unmerge tasks in the workflow inbox is deprecated. You can use the new experience to review merge and unmerge tasks in the workflow inbox.
The new experience for the review of merge and unmerge tasks in the workflow inbox includes many features from the new Source Records page experience, such as managing fields and navigating dynamic fields and field groups. For more information about these features, see Source Records page experiences.
The following table describes the differences in functionality between the new and classic experiences of the workflow inbox for merge and unmerge tasks:
Functionality
New experience
Classic experience
Identifying contributing master records
When you open a merge task for master records, each master record has a unique number to help with identification. Each field in the merged master record preview is labeled with the number that identifies the contributing master record.
When you merge master records or open a merge task for master records, master records aren't numbered.
Previewing unmerged records
When you open an unmerge task, you can preview the records that are created after the unmerge action. The previews of records can be viewed on separate tabs.
You can preview the master records that are created after the unmerge action in a list that appears at the original master record column header.
