MDM SaaS enriches and validates drafts when you save them. The same behavior applies to drafts that are created or updated through REST APIs.
On record creation and updates
When you create new records, MDM SaaS saves the records as drafts, so you can make changes and correct mistakes and validation errors before you submit the records. When you submit drafts, MDM SaaS creates master records. If rule associations are configured to enrich or validate records during record creation, they run on drafts that are created during the record creation phase.
Similarly, when you edit existing records, the changes are saved as drafts until you submit the drafts. If rule associations are configured to enrich or validate records during record updates, they run on the drafts that are in the update phase.
On field focus change
Your administrator might configure rule associations to run when field focus changes. These rule associations run immediately when you select another field in drafts. The results of these rule associations aren't saved to the draft.
On section save and record submission
Your administrator might configure rule associations to run when you apply changes to sections and also submit records. These rule associations run when you save the changes in drafts. These rule associations don't run again when you submit drafts.
Rule associations configured to run after record submission also run when you save sections with input fields for the rule associations. Similarly, rule associations configured to run both on section save and record submission run when you apply changes to each section that includes input fields for the rule associations. If rule associations include input fields from multiple sections of a record, the rule associations run when you apply changes to each section. For example, if rule associations have input fields from root fields, the Address field group, and the Email field group, they run three times as you apply changes to each of these sections.
