Glossary

activity log

A log that contains log entries for all tasks that have completed. If a job runs successfully, the activity log indicates the number of processed rows. If the job fails or completes with errors, the activity log displays related error messages.

activity monitor

A component of Informatica Cloud that provides details about tasks that are currently running.

administrator

See organization administrator.

agent

A program that runs Informatica Cloud tasks. An agent can be a Secure Agent that runs locally within your environment or it can be a Hosted Agent that runs at an Informatica Cloud hosting facility.

audit log

A log that tracks user operations such as login, create, update, and delete operations.

bundles

A set of pre-built integration templates that you can use in your organization.

connection

An Informatica Cloud object that you configure to connect to a source or target. You use connections in tasks.A Informatica Cloud object that you configure to connect to a source or target. You use connections in tasks.

connector

Contact Validation task

An Informatica Cloud task that validates and corrects postal address data, and adds geocode information to postal address data. It also validates email addresses and checks phone numbers against the Do Not Call Registry.

custom view

A custom view is a view that displays a subset of the specified object type. You can configure custom views for the activity log, connections, tasks, and task flows.

Data Assessment task

An Informatica Cloud task that measures and monitors the quality of data in the Accounts, Contacts, Leads, and Opportunities Salesforce CRM objects. You can use Data Assessment tasks to measure field completeness, field conformance, record duplication, and address validity.

Data Masking task

An Informatica Cloud task that creates realistic test data from production source data. The format of the original columns and relationships between the rows are preserved in the masked data.

Data Quality service

A web service that analyzes the content and structure of your data and enhances the data according to your business requirements. Data Quality services in Informatica Cloud are web services that you access with SOAP web service calls. You can consume Data Quality services for cleansing, validating, and standardizing your data.

Data Replication task

An Informatica Cloud task that replicates data from Salesforce or database sources to database or file targets. You might replicate data to archive data, perform offline reporting, or consolidate and manage data.

Data Synchronization task

An Informatica Cloud task that synchronizes data between a source and target. A Data Synchronization task loads data and integrates applications, databases, and files. Includes add-on functionality such as custom queries and mapplets.

email notification

Email messages that Informatica Cloud sends to inform users about events. You can configure Informatica Cloud to send notification when tasks complete or fail.

full load

A type of load where the Data Replication task replicates the data for all rows of the Salesforce objects in the Data Replication task. Each time the Data Replication task runs, the task truncates the target database tables and performs a full data refresh from Salesforce.

Informatica Cloud application

A browser-based application that runs at the Informatica Cloud hosting facility. It allows you to configure connections, create users, and create, run, schedule, and monitor tasks.

Informatica Cloud Connector

An Informatica Cloud add-on that provides connectivity to source and target types that are not supported natively in Informatica Cloud. A Informatica Cloud add-on that provides connectivity to source and target types that are not supported natively in Informatica Cloud.

Informatica Cloud Hosted Agent

A runtime environment and an agent that is hosted at an Informatica Cloud hosting facility. The Informatica Cloud Hosted Agent (Hosted Agent) runs tasks in the same way that a Secure Agent runs tasks.

Informatica Cloud hosting facility

A facility where Informatica Cloud runs. The Informatica Cloud hosting facility stores task and organization information but it does not store source or target data.

Informatica Cloud Secure Agent

An agent that enables secure communication across the firewall between your organization and Informatica Cloud to run tasks. The Informatica Cloud Secure Agent (Secure Agent) runs within a Secure Agent group.

Informatica Cloud Secure Agent Manager

A program used to manage the Informatica Cloud Secure Agent on Windows.

integration template

An integration template defines parameterized data flow logic that you can use in Mapping Configuration tasks.

job

A job is an instance of a task.

mapping

A mapping defines data flow logic that you can use in Mapping Configuration tasks.

Mapping Configuration task

An Informatica Cloud task that allows you to process data based on the data flow logic defined in a mapping or integration template.

mapplet

Transformation logic that you can create and use to transform source data before it is loaded into the target. Previously known as a plug-in.

object-level permissions

Object-level permissions allow you to configure user group access for individual objects in the organization.

organization administrator

A Informatica Cloud user configured with the Admin role and full access to the organization. The organization administrator is responsible for managing the organization and performing administrative tasks, such as configuring Secure Agents, configuring the organization profile, and managing organization security. If the organization has multiple users with the Admin role, the organization administrator is the lead administrator.

organization hierarchy

An organization hierarchy is a hierarchy of organizations consisting of a parent organization and one or more sub-organizations.

parameter file

A text file that contains user-defined parameters and their associated values.

PowerCenter task

A Informatica Cloud task that runs a PowerCenter workflow that you import into Informatica Cloud.

quality metric

A metric that performs a specific type of data quality analysis. For example, the Address Validation quality metric determines the percentage of address-type fields that have valid address data.

role

A set of privileges that allows a user to access information and perform tasks in the organization. Each user must be assigned at least one role.

runtime environment

The execution platform that run tasks. A runtime environment is either the Informatica Cloud Hosted Agent or a Secure Agent group. You must have at least one runtime environment in each organization so that users in the organization can run tasks.

saved query

A Informatica Cloud object that you can create from one or more source database tables. Previously known as a custom source.

Secure Agent group

A type of runtime environment that consists of one or more Secure Agents.

Service and Process Designer

A tool that allows you to quickly develop, test, and deploy cloud-based services and process integrations.

Service and Process Monitor

A tool that allows you to administer real time integration services and manage the complete life cycle of integrations.

sub-organization

An Informatica Cloud organization that is part of an organization hierarchy.

task

A process that you configure to analyze, extract, transform, and load data. Informatica Cloud allows you to configure and run different types of tasks. For example, you can run a Data Assessment task that measures field completeness, field conformance, record duplication, and address validity for each object in a Salesforce account.

task flow

An Informatica Cloud object that allows you to group multiple tasks. You can run the task flow immediately or on a schedule. The tasks in a task flow run serially, in the specified order.

user

An Informatica Informatica Cloud user account that allows secure access to an organization. A user can perform tasks in the organization based on the role assigned to the user or to the user groups that the user is a member of.

user group

A group of users in which all members are assigned the same roles and can perform the same tasks in the organization.
