You can create, update, or delete a large number of business assets in Data Governance and Catalog using a template file. You can also import assets using a search export file. To import and update your assets, you must populate the required data, and re-import the file to Data Governance and Catalog.
Depending on the number and type of assets in your template file or your search, the time taken to import or export assets varies.
When exporting assets from a search result, Data Governance and Catalog exports quicker for an export of up to 10,000 assets. If you include asset hierarchy, every level of an asset's hierarchy counts as one asset and adds to the asset limit required for a faster export.
When you import assets using a downloaded template file or a search export file, your import is faster under the following conditions:
•You are creating or updating assets and not deleting assets. For assets associated with a workflow, you can simultaneously create or update a maximum of 500 assets. Data Governance and Catalog creates tickets only if you selected Yes for the Submit Ticket column in the template file or if you have left the field empty.
•Your import file has not more than 500 rows, which comprises not more than 2000 update requests. Update requests include operations to create, update, assign, or classify assets.
•You are adding or removing up to 50 asset stakeholders. For technical assets, the assets you import must have less than 50 child assets.
•Your import file does not include update requests for a technical data element to business data set relationship.
•Your import file does not contain sheets for relationships and stakeholders.
