Translation process

When you add custom assets or customize predefined assets, you need to translate your business applications. To translate your business applications, identify what you need to translate in your business applications. You can download the latest English translation to identify the asset labels that need translations. Translate the asset labels and review the translations in your business applications.
To translate, perform the following tasks:
  1. 1Step 1. Download translation files
  2. 2Step 2. Identify and translate changes
  3. 3Step 2. Upload the translation files
  4. 4Step 4. Review the translations

Step 1. Download translation files

Download the translation file for the language into which you want to translate your business application. For subsequent translations, download the English translation file or language translation file to identify changes from an older version.
    1Click Localization > Translations.
2To download the translation file for a specific language, click the Download Translation File icon beside the language on the Translations tab. The image shows the Translations page with the Download Translation File icon.
The translationfile-<language>.json file is downloaded to your system.
Share the English and language translation file with the translators. For subsequent translations, share the earlier version of the language translation file to identify changes.

Step 2. Identify and translate changes

To update translations, determine the changes by comparing the latest version of the translated language file with the previous version.
When you add an asset or update the label of an asset, the system adds a key-value pair that contains an English asset label to the English and other language translation files. You need to update the corresponding value in the other language translation files.
To determine translation changes, compare different versions of language translation files. Identify the list of keys that require translations. Search for the keys and update translations for the identified keys in the language translation file.

Step 3. Upload the updated translation file

Upload the updated translation file to the Business 360 data store. You can upload the translation file with all the key-value pairs or the updated key-value pairs. When you upload the translation file, the system updates only the new or updated translations. The system doesn't replace the existing translations that didn't undergo any change.
Ensure that the file size doesn't exceed 5 MB and that the file contains valid translation keys.
    1Click Localization > Translations.
2To upload the translation file, click the Upload Translation File icon beside the language on the Translations tab.
The Localization page shows the Translation tab with the Upload Translation File icon.
The Upload Translation File dialog box appears.
3Select the translation file to upload, and click Upload.
If there are no validation errors, the file uploads successfully.
4If validation errors appear, fix the errors and upload the translation file again.

Step 4. Review the translations

To ensure that the translations are accurate, review the translations in your business applications.
Before you review the translations, set the language preferences of your browser to the translated language of your business application and refresh your business application. If you have set the language preference of your browser in the order of French, Portuguese, and English, translations appear in the order you have set the language preferences of your browser.
Open your business application and navigate to the asset labels with new or updated translations and review the translations.
