Configure metadata privileges for Business 360 Console user roles

The metadata privileges specify whether users can model data and configure data quality rules, search, match model, and survivorship for the business entity.
The following image shows the metadata privileges for a custom user role:

You can assign one or more privileges for the following metadata and field properties:
Note: Ensure that you assign read privilege in the metadata tabs for the custom user role if you want to assign multiple privileges. Other privileges might not behave as expected without the read privileges.

Attributes

The privileges specify whether users can create, read, update, and delete business entity attributes. Based on the privileges you assign, the custom user role gets complete access, partial access, or no access to the Attributes tab of the business entity.
The following table describes the behavior of attributes privileges:

Create
Create field and field groups for the business entity.
The fields panel from which you can add fields is not visible.
Read
View the fields and field groups of the business entity.
If you enable only the read privilege, the user interface displays the following details:
  • - Attributes tab is visible.
  • - Fields panel is not visible.
  • - Delete and cut icons are disabled.
  • - Fields within the General tab of Properties panel are not editable.
Attributes tab is not visible.
Update
Edit the field or field group properties, such as display name and description. You can also enable or disable fields and field groups.
  • - The Display Name and Description fields are disabled in the General tab of the Properties panel.
  • - Enable and Disable radio buttons are disabled for each field and field group of the business entity.
Delete
Delete the custom fields of the business entity.
Delete icon is disabled for the custom fields in the Attributes tab of the selected business entity.

Data Quality

The privileges specify whether users can create, read, update, and delete data quality rule associations for a field.
Based on the privileges you assign, the user gets complete, partial, or no access to the Data Quality tab. It also specifies which tasks the user can perform pertaining to data quality rule associations.

Prerequisites

The following table describes the behavior of data quality privileges:

Create
Create basic and advanced data quality rule associations.
The add button is disabled on the Data Quality tab.
Read
View the Data Quality tabs of business entity and field. View existing rule associations if any.
Can open the existing rule associations but Enable Rule Association check box is disabled.
Update
  • - Edit the basic and advanced data quality rule associations.
  • - Enable or disable DaaS for smart fields and update the DaaS properties.
  • - Change the order of execution of basic rule associations for a field.
  • - Edit button for each data quality rule association is disabled.
  • - Enable rule association check box is disabled for both basic and advanced rule associations.
  • - Enable icon and other fields related to DaaS for smart fields are disabled.
  • - Change Order button is disabled.
Delete
Delete basic rule associations.
Note: You can disable the advanced and DaaS data quality rule associations but you cannot delete them. To delete advanced data quality rule associations, ensure that you set the delete privilege for Data Quality in the Administrator. For more information about the data quality privileges in Administrator, see Prerequisites.
The delete icon is disabled for data quality rule associations.

Search

The privileges specify whether users can configure search properties for business entity fields.
Based on the privileges you assign, the user gets complete, partial, or no access to the Search tab in field properties panel of the business entity. You can assign read and update privileges for Search. The create and delete privileges are disabled by default.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you assign at least read privileges for attributes. The user cannot view the Search tab without the read privilege for attributes.
The following table describes the behavior of search privileges:

View the Search tab and the search properties associated with each business entity field.
The Search tab is not visible.
Update
Update the search properties of fields. After you update the search properties, when you save the changes, an index job triggers.
Note: Ensure that you also set the read privilege. Without the read privilege, the Search tab is not available for you to update the search properties.
All the search properties are disabled.

Match

You can assign only read privileges for match. The create, update, and delete privileges are disabled by default. The read privilege indicates whether users can access match models and declarative rules on the Match tab.
The privileges specify whether users can create, read, update, and delete match model and declarative rules. In the current release, you can assign only the read privileges, and other privileges are disabled. You can perform all the task related to match with the read permission.

Survivorship

The privileges specify whether users can read and update the survivorship configuration of the business entity and fields. Based on the privileges you assign, the custom user role gets complete, partial, or no access to the Survivorship tab of the business entity. You can assign read and update privileges for Survivorship. The create and delete privileges are disabled by default.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you assign at least the read privilege for attributes. Users can't view the Survivorship tab without the read privilege for attributes.
The following table describes the survivorship privileges when enabled and disabled:

Read
View the Survivorship tabs of business entities and fields. If you enable the read privilege, the user interface displays the following details:
  • - Displays all the fields, but users can't select them.
  • - Displays ranks of source and survivorship rules.
The Survivorship tabs are not visible.
Update
Edit the survivorship configuration of the business entity and fields.
Note: Ensure that you also set the read privilege. Without the read privilege, the Survivorship tab is not available for you to edit the survivorship configuration.
All the fields are disabled.
