Updating assets metadata

Create bulk update tasks to update the metadata of the assets you have converted and migrated to the cloud environment.
Updating the metadata of assets is a two-step process that includes exporting the existing metadata of the converted assets, and then importing new metadata to update the assets. To update the metadata of assets, perform the following steps:
    1Export the existing metadata of the converted assets. Create a bulk update task to perform an export metadata operation. For more information, see Exporting assets metadata.
    2Import new metadata to update the assets. Create a bulk update task to upload new metadata and update the assets. For more information, see Importing assets metadata.

Exporting assets metadata

Export the existing metadata of the assets as an Excel template file.
Before you create a bulk update task, ensure that your role has all the necessary permissions. For information on assigning the required permissions, see Asset Permissions.
Create a bulk update task to export the metadata of the assets you have converted and migrated to the cloud platform.
    1On the left navigation menu, click New.
    The New Asset dialog box appears.
    2Click Bulk Update Task, and then click Create.
    The New Bulk Update Task page appears.
    3The following table describes the properties that you need to configure:
    Property
    Description
    Bulk Update Operation
    Type of bulk update operation you want to perform. Select Export Metadata to export the metadata of the assets.
    Asset Type
    Type of assets you want to update.
    Task Name
    Name of the bulk update task.
    Description
    (Optional) Description of the bulk update task.
    Task Location
    Click Browse, and select the project or folder location where you want to create the bulk update task.
    Project/Folder
    Project or folder that contains the assets for bulk update. Select a project and up to 5 folders in the project. To choose a different project or folder, uncheck the selected values.
    Operation
    The type of metadata you want to export and update the assets. For more information, see the Bulk update overview topic.
    4Click Next.
    Review the task details before you save and run the task.
    5Do one of the following:
    The bulk update task is created. You can view the list of bulk update tasks in the Explore > All Tasks page. Use the Type filter to filter and view all the available bulk update tasks.

Importing assets metadata

Create a bulk update task to export the metadata of the assets you have converted and migrated to the cloud platform.
Before you create a bulk update task, ensure that your role has all the necessary permissions. For information on assigning the required permissions, see Asset Permissions.
    1On the left navigation menu, click New.
    The New Asset dialog box appears.
    2Click Bulk Update Task, and then click Create.
    The New Bulk Update Task page appears.
    3The following table describes the properties that you need to configure:

    Bulk Update Operation
    Type of bulk update operation you want to perform. Select Update Metadata to update the metadata of the assets.
    Task Name
    Name of the bulk update task.
    Description
    Optional. Description of the bulk update task.
    Task Location
    Click Browse, and select the project or folder location where you want to create the bulk update task.
    Template File Location
    Location of the template file that contains the metadata to update the assets.
    Select one of the following location types:
    • - Update from local file system to upload the template file from your local system. Click Validate, and verify if the template file is valid.
    • - Update from shared location to provide the shared location path of the template file and the runtime environment. Click Validate, and verify if the shared location path is valid.
    4Click Next.
    Review the task details before you save and run the task.
    5Do one of the following actions:
You can view the list of bulk update tasks in the Explore > All Tasks page. Use the Type filter to filter and view all the available bulk update tasks.
